Wizard101 [MAC/PC] Game Review!

All the way back in 2008, a company known as KingsIsle Entertainment set out to create a game. They filled this game with wizards and other magical creatures, and for some totally random reason, named it Wizard101! Over the years, Wizard101 has gotten so popular that now THOUSANDS of people play it, and it was extended to Mac as well as the PC. I have played this game myself of course, and now I am going to tell you what I think about it in this game review!

Graphics: The graphics to this game were fairly incredible, strongly resembling World of Warcraft, another ever popular game. They are complex and amazing, with eye-catching HD views. Definitely a bonus to this game.

Music: There is a pretty decent music to this game, however it is not TOO loud, mainly because the characters are actually TALKING, instead of you just reading the text, another likeable feature! It has a piano classical, the kind to get you jumpy and excited, the PERFECT match for this game!

Cinematics: The action of this game is pretty smooth and swift. It is perfectly tuned in to the game, with EXTRAORDINARY maps and scenery to give you the most vivid and best gaming experience. Other than that, the cards in which you cast spells are very clear and easy to read, and the game itself is a LOT of fun!

Story: The story of this game is pretty thorough and is okay in all relative terms. However, the story for this game is okay, however not good enough for a Let’s Play, mainly because all you do is attack monsters in every single stage. You battle a certain number of monsters, and then end the quest. After a while, this gets insanely boring, but that is not the worst part. You can only play for a certain amount of time (and not very long), before membership is REQUIRED to continue on with the story! If you are not willing to pay $10 a month, you are pretty much stuck.

When I give this game a score, it would be ONLY a 6/10 or a 7/10. Why? Well, everything in this game was AMAZING, well, everything except for the story. If that could be fixed up, I’m sure this game would get thousands more players and not just stick at a small level just because you are forced to pay. However, if you do want to play (which is free), then be sure to download the game using this link, it works for both Mac and PC, however NOT Linux yet!:

Pokemon Lake – Some people might call me crazy for putting this one all the way down at 4, but the truth is about this game is that it is OP, and you can find legendaries in minutes, taking away from most of the game’s purpose, which means you can only spend around 5 minutes before you have basically beaten the game, and now you are sitting there bored, all the way back to square 1, Nevertheless, Pokemon Lake has many players, check it out for yourself in the link below:

I think that by now you are starting to understand the little pixelated gaming that will be happening over here. But this game, being addictive and even “fun” as you might call it, has its pros and cons, just like any other game. For the sake of everything happy, let us start with the pros, and what I liked while playing this game.

It has a tutorial, that is basic and takes around 30 seconds to learn and play, like Minecraft. The point of this game, as you can tell from the title, is that you are a little blockman trying to fight enemies in different locations and arenas, with different variations of difficulty, to make for some pretty fun gameplay.

The graphics, I must admit, really did take me by surprise. Little pixellated men, like Lego blocks, were running around, making the game look stupid and unplayworthy. However, as I stated before, the graphics were similar to Minecraft, which being so fun and popular, led me to give this game a second look before totally giving up on it. Man, was that a good idea!

The music gives such a good feel to the game. It is high and intense, then drops like a stone, making the game all the more fun! Piano music, out of something Beethoven might play, aggressive and with the ability to put the gamer into a gaming and intense mood, just dying to start fighting with this little blockman, overall a good choice by the makers.

The cinematic of the game was quite nice. Pieced together with just enough skills needed by the player, but not too much to make it complicated. The perfect game to maybe spend 30 minutes on in full enjoyment. Smooth and random, spawns were not determined and the game is totally random and wild, so calling it unfair would be EXACTLY right, as the creator even said himself!

Superfighters VS Gameplay
Superfighters VS Gameplay

The content of the game is not complicated, but simple and fun. When you first go into the game, there are 3 modes. VS, Stage Mode, and Survival. You can also participate in 2 other options that pop-up, Tutorial – To Learn the Game, and Set Up, if you wish you can change the controls. However before you can come into all of these game modes, you have to select how many players, 1 or 2. Both have the same 3 game modes, and it is always fun with somebody else! For VS you can choose the number of bots, or people, you want to fight. It also lets you choose which character you want to be, all with a different custom sprite. In Stage Mode there are 12 levels to fight in, and if you win in all of them, you unlock a new character called Clown, who is basically Joker from Batman… Anyways, Survival is just like what it says, you have to survive onslaughts of attackers, and go wave after wave to see how long you can survive, and compare it with your friend!

Overall, I would give this game a rating of 8/10. It was fun gameplay, however there is always room for improvement, especially in the content department, Maybe adding a few more features and things to do would boost it up a bit! Also, be sure to play the game for yourself to see what it is like! (Link Below!) Be sure to stay tuned for more Game Reviews as well!
